Compared to the Belgian painter, <a href=\"http:\/\/yayoi-kusama.jp\/\"><strong>Yayoi Kusama<\/strong><\/a>, it has a thousand times more fascinating and striking story, a saga about how a young Japanese woman conquered the whole world with her art. Today, at the age of 90, Yayoi is perhaps the most famous and richest woman in contemporary visual arts and perhaps in all of history.<\/p>\n<p>The artist&#8217;s artistic beginnings are in post-war Japan, when the passion for painting was intertwined with the turmoil of family life. Psychoanalysts explain his explosive and transgressive fantasies through the traumas of childhood when he had to endure a toxic family with a womanly father and a traveling life, along with a jealous mother, who took little Yayoi as a witness to domestic suffering. His mother was against art and tore up her drawings, but little Yayoi, with the stubbornness that had dominated her all her life, turned to compositions made of mud and old sacks. She later studied at the Kyoto School of Arts and Crafts, where the artist was drawn more to American abstract impressionism, as opposed to the traditional Japanese style of &#8222;nihonga&#8221; painting.<\/p>\n<p>In 1958, with money sewn into his clothes and a baggage of his paintings, he moved to New York, where he entered the role of modern art.<\/p>\n<p>Its beginnings are marked by anti-war social reactions, adherence to the &#8222;hippie&#8221; counter-culture, virulent street happening and relationships with American avant-garde artists. Towards the end of the 1960s, she attracted the public&#8217;s attention when she organized a series of events in which naked participants were painted with intensely colored The Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Very soon Yayoi&#8217;s creation intensified and diversified, his paintings and installations building an &#8222;op-art&#8221; universe (optic-art) with brutalist, pop, psychedelic tendencies. Along with the struggle for creation, her mental disorders intensified, which later led her to turn Yayoi into a permanent patient of a psychiatric hospital. Curator Mika Yoshitake said that Kusama&#8217;s works are meant to immerse the whole person in Kusama&#8217;s accumulations, obsessions and repetitions. These endless, repetitive works were originally meant to eliminate Kusama&#8217;s intrusive thoughts, but now he shares them with the world.<\/p>\n<p>These experiences seem unique to her work, as Kusama wanted others to sympathize with her in her troubled life. Bedatri D. Choudhury described how Kusama&#8217;s lifelong lack of control made her, either consciously or subconsciously, want to control how others perceive time and space as she enters her exhibits. This statement seems to imply that without her trauma, Kusama would not have created these works as well or perhaps not at all. Art had become a coping mechanism for Kusama.<\/p>\n<p>Yayoi recounted how he went to his native Japan to draw flower fields: \u201cI thought only people could talk, so I was surprised that violets used words.
