Despite the bidimensional, a photo can tell a lot. And her talk can be a move, a whisper, a word, or it’s a symphony with a thousand tones or emotions.

Great masters of photography? A list of them? One of the heaviest tasks, a ranking that struggles with subjectivity and official acceptance … but in the landscape of visual culture there are some who detonate the noisy earthquake.

Here we go over our little idiosyncrasies or affinities, such as: film vs. digital, black and white vs color, image as such vs. technically processed; no matter the technical details, here we are talking about a fundamental substance.

Masters attach to their work something great like death, as André Malraux said

only death turns life into a destiny”.

And life is celebrated, together with dreams and reality, I would add.

To confront the madness of the world and to describe at the same time the beauty, a task performed by the great photographers or, as the same Malraux said, „a world ordered by its flowers, a world ordered by its roots.

What does a master define in photography? A photographer who is more than good, is a brave who knows frontiers and limitations, overcomes them, broadens the sense of style.
