I came back off the ladder truck and of course I was shaking. The little baby had already gone in the ambulance and the woman, who was the baby’s grandmother, was still on the ground and they were trying to revive her. I was going to switch lenses, but I couldn’t find my 20 mm lens and all of a sudden I started thinking, ‘Oh my God, I lost my lens, I’m going to be in the shit now’ — these are the things going through your head.

Stanley Forman was a photographer working for the Boston Herald when he attended a firefight. He managed to capture the moment of a tragic moment, which brought him the Pulitzer Prize for photography.

At the same time, a campaign of debates on the ethics of photojournalism and the decency of public images was launched.

The  woman became famous on her way to death and the municipality changed the fire safety codes.

M-am întors de pe camionul cu scară și bineînțeles că tremuram. Micuțul intrase deja în ambulanță  iar femeia, care era bunica bebelușului, era  la pământ și încercau să o resusciteze. Aveam de gând să schimb lentilele dar nu mi-am putut găsi obiectivul de 20 mm și dintr-o dată am început să mă gândesc: O, Doamne, mi-am pierdut lentila, o să fiu în rahat acum” – acestea sunt lucrurile care iti trec prin cap.

Stanley Forman era un fotograf care lucra pentru Boston Herald, când a participat la locul unui incendiu. El a reuşit să surprindă momentul unui tragic moment, care i-a adus premiul Pulitzer pentru fotografie. În acelaşi timp s-a pornit o campanie de dezbateri legate de etica în fotojurnalism, de decenţa imaginilor publice.

Femeie a devenit celebră în drumul ei spre moarte iar municipalitatea a schimbat codurile de siguranţă privind evacuarea la incendii.
